PARALLAX

It's a long standing tradition in the professional hockey world that as a team enters the playoffs in hopes of winning their league championship, the players of that team take on a particularly grungy non-shaven look as superstition that it will bring them luck in their battles on the ice. A goal so close in time proximity, yet so much in front of them before it can be fully realized.

If we were to compare the "Parallax" creation experience with that of an NHL team, we'd be hitting stride with our playoff beards right about now. Thankfully this is only a metaphor for us, but nonetheless the concept stays the same.

Over this past weekend, Graham and I (for those who STILL don't know who the phantom blogger is, it's Tommy) traveled down to Charleston, South Carolina to record the final score with our composer Chris. Thanks to the kind people at Charleston Sound recording studio, we were able to record the final score on Monday morning after several days of hard work between Graham and Chris to deliver the final output for the music of "Parallax." As someone listening in on the recording itself, I must say it sounded amazing and I for one am extremely excited to see it's placement in the final film.

Over the same weekend, another incredible milestone was hit; picture lock. The editing for the film is complete, shot for shot, scene to scene. For those of you unfamiliar with the logistics of editing a film, I'll put it in my best layman's terms - it's insane. Quite literally insane. An editor's job with any project is to essentially make the best moments captured on screen look and feel even better and the worst moments and problems from production non-existent. I honestly can't even begin to describe how far this film has come since it's earliest days in the editing room, and my sincere hats off to Sara and Graham for their incredible work.

With picture lock now in place, we turn our focus towards sound and our amazing team at Ground Control Studio. We have quite a month ahead of us with them, and are beyond excited to have these guys on our team. With the impressive resume and creative mindset they have, we know that they will surely take this film to the next level. Not only them, but we've added some amazing voiceover actors to add to the moments of our film and it will certainly be exciting to see the sound for this film come together.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the continental United States, our visual effects team led by artist/supervisor Vineeth is producing some amazing work for us. Between all of the tasks at hand, they are giving us exceptional output and it has been a pleasure working with them. We're down to our last few weeks with their team, so it will definitely be exciting to see where the visual effects will go.

Lastly comes Casey, whose work speaks for itself. Even with his early steps into coloring the film, it's beginning to look amazing. Casey is an extremely talented colorist and we are very excited to see his final output for the coloring.

With all of these underway, there is certainly a lot going on with the post-production process. We're only a short 6 anticipated weeks out from the final film coming together, but as you can see, we've still got an uphill battle in making "Parallax" the best film it can be. With all of this said, and the playoff beard mentality intact, it's time to bring this film to the next level.

Until next time-
