PARALLAX

Well, we did it. After nearly 2 years of non-stop full time work on this film, we've finally submitted it to the Sundance Film Festival. Now to bear the true question, what comes next?

To tell you the truth, submitting "Parallax" to its first festival is really just another blip in the radar in terms of this film's lifeline. Sure, it feels great to know that this could be the start of something special, but realistically our job is far from over.

First and foremost, the film that we submitted to Sundance is not the final film by any means. Simply put, film festivals are like colleges. There are deadlines to submit, you wait, you receive some crushing blows, you receive some great news, you go to them, you meet people, and you come out hoping someone wants you on their team after seeing what you've done. Now for us comes that waiting period...

To keep in tune with this college analogy, the Sundance Film Festival is the equivalent to submitting to Harvard Law School. The odds of getting in are close to those of getting struck by lightning, and once you do get in, you come to find out that Gloria Allred is in your class (or in the case of Sundance, Bradley Cooper's film is playing the same time as yours). But you gotta go for it because if you come out on top, everything else falls into place.

Now thankfully, there are many other festivals that we are applying to that can both help launch this film into independent film fame and also are realistic for us to get into. For many of these festivals, the application period has begun as well so for the next few months, it will be a continual process of applying and waiting.

As we do wait to hear back from these festivals, there is still much work to be done on "Parallax" before we plan to premiere it next January. Several department tasks remain from visual effects to sound design completion to coloring and the many small details that fall in between. At this point, we have roughly three months to complete the film before our hopeful premiere at the beginning of next year.

Not only is completion a goal of ours, but before "Parallax" is shown to anyone, we have some marketing to do (yes, this means more Facebook posts). Don't be alarmed though, as we are finally getting to the good stuff. Trailers, teasers, cast and crew interviews, the content we've all been waiting for.

Throughout the course of November into December, our goal is to build the "Parallax" brand across many platforms through both attracting new fans as well as retaining those who have been faithful from the start. Now naturally, the goal of all of this is to have the greatest amount of people see this film as humanly possible. With that said, we will revert back to Indiegogo to act as our platform for getting the film out there. As our campaign begins, fans will be able to buy tickets to screenings, DVDs, collector items, and many other unique perks all while helping us get our film out there. During this time, all of the funds we raise will go straight to our marketing budget to help this film reach a large audience.

As you can see, the road to January is still a long one, and yes you will still have to wait a few months to actually see the film. However, this is all in good name as we are working to make it as great of a film as possible before we let it out there. 2014 has the potential to be a monster year for this film, so hang in there for the time being, and get ready for some fun!

Until next time-
